What is luck?

Have you ever wondered why some people seem luckier that others? It might not seem fair that those folks seem, more often than not, to be in the right place at the right time.
I propose that this is not random. In fact, I would propose that these people have discovered the means to "create" luck, and it is not a secret.
At the core of this "luck" is preparedness. I would contend that "luck" is created when preparedness is met by opportunity. Throughout the course of our lives, opportunities related to career, relationships, health, investments, education, personal development, and others, occur.
We may actually see the opportunity and recognize the prospective value but, we don't know what to do in order the capitalize on the unique circumstance of the moment. This is where preparedness enters the moment.
Preparedness can be defined in a number of ways including:
Conscious willingness to take risk or step outside our comfort zone.
Clarifying, understanding, and committing to life goals.
Commitment to developing a deep understanding how others have accomplished what we aspire to.
Understanding the difference between rational objective evaluation and emotional response.
Establish and maintain financial solvency.
Develop a relationship with a mentor with like-minded goals.
Engaging in the "creation" of luck will require effort, deep commitment, dogged perseverance, and faith. We don't and can't know when or how these opportunities might present or manifest themselves but being prepared, able to recognize them, and having a willingness to act when they occur will support your "creating" your own luck.
How lucky you are might just be up to you.
